Fancy Tiger Crafts

Name
Amber Corcoran and Jaime Jennings

Business Name
Fancy Tiger Crafts

Location
Denver CO

Describe what you sell
We are a retail store in Denver that sells craft supplies for knitting, crochet, sewing, felting and spinning. We make some craft supplies, including kits for needlefelting, which we sell on etsy. We like to make crafting accessible to everyone, so our kits are easy and make excellent introductions to the world of needle felting.

What are the best sellers in your shop?
Our needlefelting kits so far the Owl and Robin are our best selling kits.

What is your target market?
We mostly focus on marketing our brick and mortar store in Denver. Our target market is crafty types who are looking for supplies that are more modern and sophisticated than they might find at your traditional fabric or yarn store. We like to make everyone feel welcome in our store no matter what their skill level is.

What do you offer that sets you apart from the other supply sellers on Etsy?
Our kits are super-adorable and hard to resist!

What is your real life like?
We are super lucky and get to do crafts all the time. We are surrounded by yarns and fabrics all day long and get to craft sometimes at work and during the various community craft nights that we host here in Denver. We are both 30 somethings without kids but with cats. Amber enjoys making music, baking, and cooking Chinese food. Jaime enjoys riding bikes, studying herbs and great coffee.

Beadcomber Handmade Beads

These handmade polymer clay beads from Tina's shop look so lifelike that admirers may be fooled! When I saw them I knew that they would be appreciated by my readers and Tina has kindly agreed to talk to me about them....

Name

Tina Holden

Business Name
Tina Holden - Beadcomber

Location
West Coast of Vancouver Island, BC Canada

Describe what you sell.
Multi-media jewelry often using
my own handmade focal beads and pendants, mostly handmade components, Chakra Jewelry and my tutorials for both polymer clay and beadwork.

What are the best sellers in your shop?
mmm...hard to say since there
is a bit of everything, but I've sold quite a few tutorials and beads from my underwater collection.

How do you market your business?
Well, Etsy is probably the main one, but I also sell through galleries, boutiques and gift stores. I've written tutorials for magazines, joined online groups of like-minded creative souls such as Talent Database. Then, of course, there is plenty of blogging and getting the opportunity for interviews such as here.

What is your target market?
Probably all age groups, this
includes the casual for young girls and women, classy for business women, hip for young men, the surf culture and new age interest.

What do you offer that sets you apart from the other supply sellers on Etsy?
That's a big question. Of course we all want to be different and offer something unique and
worthwhile, find some sort of niche that no one else has filled yet. My Reiki Pendants are unique as are my Picasso Power Pendants where people can choose their own stones with a chart I supply, to have something crafted just for them.

I also focus on items that reflect my natural surroundings as with my Underwater collection of Sea Urchin, Starfish and Shell beads that are lovingly recreated using polymer clay because the natural products are too fragile for wear. There are a couple of items that I designed and created that will soon find their way onto Etsy as well which have done really well for me in various galleries.

What is your “real” life like?
I have wonderful husband/partner
of 26 plus years who is very supportive in what I do. As a matter of fact he has turned to creating his own line of jewelry and pendants...carved prehistoric ivory pendants, inlaid stones into antler, resin work. I'll be putting up a store for him soon. We have two kids. Well, they aren't kids anymore maybe that is why I really want a dog or cat, or both! Job and Hobby is the same as we're semi-retired. I'm interested in

Graphic design, beachcombing and what not...

Any offers you want to give blog readers?
I always send a Gift along with purchases. Plus, I'll offer Free

Reserves to blog readers. If one orders a few items from all the listings, there is a little extra shipping added, .25 per item for Canada and USA, .50 per item for elsewhere. People will sometimes ask me to do a special reserve instead for which I usually charge the .20 listing cost. Just mention you read "Debbie Gootter Designs Blog". Doesn't sound like much, but if one has a whole bunch of requests, it really saves.

Parisol Supplies

Name
Wendy Doss

Business Name
Parisol (spelled wrong intentionally!)

Location
San Francisco

Describe what you sell
Parisol offers quality supplies:sterling silver and vermeil findings, vintage jewelry components, exquisite gemstones, freshwater pearls, rare beads and eclectic flea market finds. Some items are destash. If I only need a half of a strand of gemstones why not sell the other half...we all save money. Some of my best sellers are sterling silver charms and pendants from Los Angeles, people seem to like angel wings, crowns, skeleton keys and fleur de lys motifs. Sterling and vermeil ball end headpins. Vermeil headpins are on order, I promise!! They sold out very fast this round

How do you market yourself? What is your target market?
On every order, I send out a "thank you" notice, along with shipping tracking info, and an invitation to join my mailing list. I think it's also good idea to add each customer or potential customer as a favorite seller and a favorite piece or two as well. I send out email messages ocassionally, and only when I've acquired some exciting new or popular product. My target market is jewelry designers that use quality or vintage
components in their wares.

What do you offer that sets you apart from the other supply sellers on Etsy?
I've been told that I am the only seller to offer 26 gauge vermeil ball end headpins, which is nice and thin enough to fit through tiny gemstones. As a jewelry designer myself I noticed in my searches a lack of quality sterling silver supplies on Etsy so I thought it would be a good idea to offer some. I'm pretty picky about products and I believe that the goods I choose to sell should be something I love and would use myself. I am always on the hunt for new treasures and unique and special finds for etsy, that's half the fun!

What is your “real” life like?
Let's see, I live in an old victorian dwelling in SF with tons of character with my husband Mark and my two cats Ferdinand and Isadora. For many years I worked full time downtown with the last couple of ye
ars also running an online jewelry business putting in 60+ hours per week, dreaming of the day I can do what I love instead. I eventually decided to try work part time, which was great for a while, until I was layed off. Now, I work full time at maintaining my three etsy shops {antique artisan jewelry, gemstone jewelry & supplies store}, as well as, filling in doing odd jobs, ie. helping friends paint, organize and sometimes gardening. I've been miraculously making it work for about a year now! I also love the movies, entertaining, and am a bit of a foodie.

Any offers you want to give blog readers?
Mention you read about my shop in Debbie's blog and receive free shipping on your first
order!
